WE NEED YOUR HELP!

With a lack of government support and corporate sponsorship for INDIGI HACK we are now reaching out to the community for support again!

We have over 50 youth participating in www.INDIGIHACK.com.au and that will be 50 youth that will no doubt be inspired to take up careers in STEM and how is this not important to the government and corporates Closing the Gap on Indigenous disadvantage in Australia?

I was told by some corporates that they can’t fund the event because they have exhausted the RAP budget and most likely due to the NAIDOC Week activities.
I know our event isn’t during NAIDOC Week and is held on Science Week but for me I see every day as a NAIDOC day and we need to look at other important events in Australia to share and learn Indigenous culture.

Truthfully, I have been trying to raise funds for youth to travel to Sydney for this Nationally recognised Science Week activity since last year and I’m struggling to work out why our event isn’t important to the government and corporates?
I have applied for a bunch of grants and reached out to the corporate sector (basically begging) and only Google has come onboard with a very small amount.

We have received great support from the education sector in relation to providing mentors and help for INDIGI HACK and UTS are providing venue support but we have come a crossroad with paying for something as simple as feeding the youth attending INDIGI HACK.

We have also ran a fundraiser for youth to travel to travel to Sydney form a school in remote WA which is gaining traction but this is just one of many schools across Australia that needed support to travel to Sydney.

Most events I run like INDIGI HACK and the STREAMS Network are self-funded and this is raised by working really hard doing workshops, consulting and winning awards as I am %100 dedicated to ensuring I give back to community and this is just how I have been raised as a youth.

All we want to do is ensure that the youth are catered for and the basic needs during the week are met. With youth arriving from New Zealand and WA we want to make this an positive and life changing experience.

What we need support for?

We are hosting a BBQ each night at The NCIE and having a closing ceremony which is blown our budget and we are seeking your support to raise $8,000 to pay the costs of catering and holding a gathering on the last night.

If you could spare even $20 0r $30 over the next couple of weeks this would be great!

Thank you again for your support!
